Teachers’ Council

The Teachers’ Council at Sankrail Anil Biswas Smriti Mahavidyalaya serves as a vital body that fosters academic excellence, faculty collaboration, and institutional development. Comprising all full-time faculty members, including permanent and State-Aided College Teachers (State Aided College Teacher), the council plays a key role in shaping the college’s academic policies, promoting professional development, and ensuring a student-centric learning environment. Guided by the college’s vision of “Include, Ignite, Innovate” and its mission to provide quality education, the Teachers’ Council works in tandem with the Governing Body, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and other administrative committees to uphold the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and holistic development, particularly for students from marginalized communities in Jungle Mahal.

Composition

The Teachers’ Council is chaired by the Teacher-in-Charge, who ensures alignment with institutional goals. All faculty members across departments are active members. The council elects a Secretary to coordinate its activities, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Academic Coordination
    • Oversees the implementation of the curriculum under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS).
    • Collaborates with the Academic Committee to prepare the academic calendar, schedule classes, and monitor teaching-learning processes.
    • Promotes the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in classrooms, ensuring innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
  2. Faculty Development
    • Organizes workshops, seminars, and faculty development programs to enhance teaching skills and research capabilities.
    • Encourages participation in professional development activities, such as refresher courses and conferences, to stay updated with academic advancements.
  3. Student Welfare
    • Advises on student-centric initiatives, including add-on courses (e.g., Communicative English, Basic Computer Application) and co-curricular activities.
    • Supports the Career Counselling and Psychological Counselling Cells to address students’ academic and personal needs.
    • Promotes inclusivity by mentoring first-generation learners and students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.
  4. Institutional Governance
    • Provides recommendations to the Governing Body on academic policies, infrastructure development, and resource allocation.
    • Contributes to the IQAC’s quality assurance efforts, including the preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) and Self-Study Report (SSR) for NAAC accreditation.
    • Represents faculty perspectives in administrative committees, such as the Examination Committee and NSS Advisory Committee.
  5. Community Engagement
    • Supports NSS-led initiatives, such as environmental campaigns, health drives, and village adoption programs, fostering civic responsibility among students.
    • Participates in the college’s sustainability efforts, including the “One Student, One Plant” program and Nature Park maintenance.
  6. Grievance Redressal and Discipline
    • Addresses faculty-related grievances and collaborates with the Grievance Redressal Committee to resolve issues fairly.
    • Upholds the Code of Conduct, ensuring ethical teaching practices and a respectful academic environment.
