Education & Study Tour

At Sankrail Anil Biswas Smriti Mahavidyalaya, learning extends beyond the four walls of the classroom. The college actively promotes Education and Study Tours as an essential component of experiential learning, aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages learning through exploration, real-life exposure, and multidisciplinary engagement.

Recognizing the diverse socio-economic backgrounds of our students, especially first-generation learners from rural and tribal communities, the college organizes thoughtfully designed academic excursions, cultural trips, and heritage visits to enhance classroom-based instruction with real-world experience.

Objectives:

  • To reinforce academic learning through practical exposure.
  • To familiarize students with cultural, historical, scientific, and environmental contexts.
  • To encourage teamwork, observation, and independent inquiry.
  • To broaden students’ intellectual and social horizons through travel and group interaction.
  • To provide equitable opportunities for underprivileged students to engage in experiential learning.

Types of Tours Conducted:

  • Departmental Educational Tours

Subject-specific tours to be organized by individual departments to relevant academic destinations such as:

    • Historical sites and museums (for History, Political Science)
    • Cultural institutions and literary landmarks (for Bengali, English, Santali)
    • Science museums, botanical gardens, or geographical fieldwork (for Geography, Physics, Chemistry)
  • Interdisciplinary Study Tours

Combined tours involving multiple departments to explore themes like ecology, rural development, indigenous knowledge, and tribal heritage.

  • Excursions to Universities and Research Institutes

Visits to higher education institutions to expose students to advanced academic environments and inspire future academic pursuits.

  • Cultural and Heritage Trips

Travel to heritage sites, tribal villages, folk art centres, or UNESCO locations to immerse students in Bengal’s and India’s rich cultural traditions.

  • NSS Special Camps with Field Exposure

NSS-led educational tours and village outreach programmes aimed at civic learning, environmental awareness, and social engagement.

Impact:

Through Education and Study Tours, the college:

  • Encourages holistic development and interdisciplinary thinking.
  • Bridges the urban-rural divide in access to cultural and academic spaces.
  • Promotes lifelong learning habits and civic engagement.
  • Strengthens bonds among students across disciplines and communities.
