Department of English

Background and Foundation

The Department of English was established in 2007 with B.A. General in English and in 2008 with B.A. Honours in English with the noble mission of fostering the study of English Language and Literature among the students of the region. Over the years it has been trying hard to teach English Literature and the Language among students of the region.

Area Details
ICT Facility Teachers utilize ICT tools such as projector-enabled classrooms, computers and laptops, Google Classroom, YouTube, WhatsApp, online resources, movies, and documentaries to enhance teaching-learning.
Central Library The college has a well-stocked central library offering a wide range of books relevant to English studies.
E-Resources Students are introduced to e-learning platforms like e-PG Pathshala, eGyanKosh, etc., for supplementary academic support.
Video Archive A departmental video archive includes movies, documentaries, and music that enrich students’ understanding beyond the curriculum.
Seminars, Projects & Special Lectures Regular student seminars, project work, and special lectures are organized to promote academic engagement and research culture.
YouTube Channel The department maintains a YouTube channel: “Department of English, SABSM”, hosting the Online Lecture Series on English Studies conducted during the 2021 lockdown.
